Who we are
Etinpower is a minigrid developer and more.
Our name is distinct and says what we are. "Etin," means ‘power’ in the Edo language. EtinPower is therefore “Power Squared,” or concentrated energy, hopefully reflecting our desire to totally impact and uplift our communities, harnessing the power of modern energy to propel them towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
We provide electricity to vulnerable offgrid communities. We also provide opportunities to purchase appliances that will increase incomes and increase productivity.
My Story
Prof Yinka Omorogbe SAN is an energy specialist whose international publications date as far back as 1985. She is a former Attorney-General, Edo state, Nigeria; former Secretary to the Corporation and Legal Adviser, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation; and the first female Professor and First Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan. She is active in legal and policy circles in the energy sector, and was on the two Oil and Gas Sector Implementation Committees (OGIC) established for the reform of the Nigerian petroleum sector.
She sees renewable energy as the sustainable pathway for the realisation of access to energy services for the millions of Nigerians who are lacking, and has published and presented papers advocating for increased access at major international Conferences over the years.
Our Communities
**Iguemokhua: Illuminating Hope, Igniting Progress**
In the tranquil expanse of Orhionmwon Local Government Area lies Iguemokhua, a small resilient Benin community where tradition meets opportunity. Home to approximately 1000 residents spanning diverse ethnic backgrounds, Iguemokhua is a testament to the strength of unity amidst cultural diversity.
Despite its scenic beauty and economic potential, Iguemokhua faced a glaring absence – electricity. Yet, on January 27th, 2023, a dawn of a new era broke as EtinPower brought solar-powered electricity to the community for the frist tie ever, illuminating not just homes, but dreams and aspirations.
Since then, Iguemokhua has experienced a ripple of transformation. From the bustling farmers' market to the emergence of new businesses, electricity has become the catalyst for growth and prosperity. Yet, our vision extends beyond mere illumination; it encompasses empowerment and sustainability.
Ajakurama Community: Lighting Up Possibilities**
Nestled in the heart of Edo State's Ovia Southwest Local Government Area lies Ajakurama, a vibrant riverine Ijaw community steeped in rich history and cultural heritage. Home to over 5000 residents across 700 households, Ajakurama stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of the Ijaws, the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria. Ajakurama is the seat of the traditional Egbesu society.
Despite its historical significance, Ajakurama has long grappled with infrastructural challenges, including bad roads and no electricity. However, on November 30 th 2023, a transformative moment occurred – the flick of a switch illuminated Ajakurama with modern electricity for the first time, courtesy of EtinPower Limited.
With the introduction of our solar-powered mini-grid, Ajakurama has witnessed a newfound energy that permeates every aspect of community life. The hum of generators in the more affluents compounds has been replaced by the gentle buzz of progress through clean and more cost-effective energy.
