I am Chief (Dr) Camillus Asumu, President board of trustees of Sight foundation. In all my years of practice, I have never seen the rural and semi urban population in Nigeria suffer so much medically as in the recent past. This has been largely due to a few factors namely rising cost of medical care, slow eradication of the middle class, non availability of medical personnel and extreme poverty at the other end. We have seen in our visits to these communities a sharp increase in hypertension and irreversible but preventable blindness. These have lead to an increase in the occurrence of cerebrovascular accident (stroke) or myocardial infraction (MI) in the rural and semi urban populations. We have also noticed an unusual increase in cases of sudden unexplained deaths in these populations ( causes are unknown due to the total absence of post mortem facilities). We wish to increase our visits to these populations. To this end, I wish to make a personal appeal to you to fund a medical outreach to any community of your choice in Nigeria or contribute to the funding for a community medical outreach. Your contribution will go a long way towards saving a life or preventing disabling effects of a stroke or permanent blindness. The cost of this outreach for a medical team made up of 3 medical doctors of different specialties, 2 optometrists, 2 nurses, 2 laboratory technicians and 1 runner is four hundred and sixty thousand naira ( 460,000) or One thousand pounds Sterling (1,000) or One thousand, three hundred dollars ($1,300). All donations should be made out to "SIGHT FOUNDATION, ZENITH BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER 1013603417". The medical team shall spend 3-4 days in each community giving doing consultations, treatment and giving out drugs and prescription glasses. Please visit our website at
