THE COLOURS OF LAGOS BY PHILIP TRIMNELL

Chaka Gallery

No 1, Chaka Road, Off Lekki Free Trade Zone Way,

Mosayo Beach, Eleko Lagos, Nigeria

Lagos State, home to 20 million inhabitants and undoubtedly the commercial nerve center of Nigeria, reputed for producing initiators of global enterprises, financial gurus, business moguls, cosmopolitan landscapes and architectural masterpieces, not to mention dexterous recording and performing artistes of international repute, happens to be the birth place of one of Nigeria's most accomplished photographers; Mr. Philip Trimnell.

An old boy of Loyola Ibadan and St Gregory, College, Lagos, Philip Trimnell bagged a BA. Degree in Arts at the university of Ibadan, before enrolling for a Master's program in film and television at the prestigious Marymount University, Los Angeles, USA. This fair-skin, soft-spoken gentleman who specializes in corporate/industrial photography, portraitures,

landscapes and other experimental forms of photography earned, within a short space of time, the patronage of multinationals like; Nestle Nigeria Plc, PZ Industries, Unilevel and other frontier Banks and Oil companies. The evolution of the Nigerian Music Videos and notoriety enjoyed by countless A-list artistes can be attributed to Mr. Trimnell's Music Africa, a pacesetting Music programme which has aired for the past fifteen years on Silverbird TV.

Without heads up or prior notice, we bumped into Philip Trimnell at his office for a brief chat and we were intrigued at his new body of works.

While we observed his works, he said and I quote "The hallmark of any great photographer or artist is the ability to constantly reinvent self, to not adapt to digital change and reality is to confine oneself to oblivion".

"The Colours of Lagos", a segment of his forthcoming 1st solo exhibition is so visually stimulating that we couldn't help but warm you up from what is about to hit you from the calm virtuoso. You can follow
