Omowale Ogunrinde left behind a successful career in the Banking industry, to join her husband in launching a new product into the market in 1996.

The struggles they encountered as a seemingly small business in an unfriendly business terrain at that time, despite her experience with banking, opened her eyes to the hardship of small business owners and this further drove her passion to help youths and small business owners start and grow a business.

On the 1st of May 2003, Omowale sponsored a 3 course Vocational training in her local church. This was an instant success. In a simple one day training, the youths were able to start making an income from beading, hat making and card making. Omowale continued to sponsor these training session in church till 2005.

Omowale formally founded the FSD in August 2005 to offer professional skills acquisition to as many Nigerians as desired it and the value of her work with women in MSME has earned her several local and international awards.

Today FSD with several partners have training in eleven skill areas which include Electrical Installations, Refrigeration & Cooling Systems, Fashion Designing, Carpentry, Catering, amongst others.

Her work has effectively trained over 10.000 women and youths in Lagos,Uyo, Calabar, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Mokwa, Kuje, Ibadan, Yenagoa, Owerri, and other Nigerian cities with 992 trained in 2019 alone.

Her work has verifiable records, measurable successes and majority have set up businesses or gained credible employment in different parts of Nigeria and has been effective in the transformation of lives and helping the unemployed to discover their strengths and skills.

Today the family business produces a line of products that is internationally accepted from a company employing a large number of staff; while Omowale has emerged as a scholar practitioner in the area of small business development.

Omowale is a mentor and trainer at many training and development programs during which she uses the success stories of FSD alumni to encourage other women. www.fsd.ng
